Scorpio Full Moon - 4/23/2024

At 6:49pm CDT on 4/23 we have a Full Moon in Scorpio. And it’s NOT an eclipse…but it still holds a fair bit of intensity (it is Scorpio, after all 😂)…and it’s squaring Pluto.

The Tarot, Sabian Symbols and I Ching paint a story of resilience, abundance and stability after a period of disappointment, loss or the closing of a chapter. We have an opportunity to dive deep into what brings us stability.

The Majors at play include Judgement (Pluto = modern ruler of Scorpio), Death (Scorpio), the Empress (Venus rules Taurus), The Hierophant (Taurus) as well as the Magician (Mercury is Decan 1 ruler for Sun in Taurus) and the Tower (Mars traditionally rules Scorpio and its 1st decan). There is a spotlight on what we’re transforming and how that will bring about an increase of abundance and stability in our lives. The Knights and 5s of Pentacles/Cups are associated with the 1st decans of Taurus/Scorpio. 5s are change cards – times of transformation and change can be uncomfortable and hard, but can lead to more stability and emotional fulfillment once one chapter ends and another begins.

On the I Ching side, the moon sits in Hexagram 28 (Great Exceeding), Line 3 – a hexagram about excess/burdens/being at the cusp of transformation. The Sun sits in Hexagram 27 (Nourishment), a hexagram about receiving and tending to your well-being. The 3rd lines of these hexagrams both caution us not to mess with a good thing, tamper with precedent or turn away from what nourishes us. The I Ching is reminding us to be intentional and cautious in our approach to transformation and change. Avoid rash decisions or changing course without a clear intention for what best fulfills your body and spirit.

The Sabian Symbol for Scorpio 5 (A massive rocky shore) is about the stability that institutions and structure can ironically bring to our pursuit for individual freedom. And the Sun in Taurus 5 (A widow at an open grave) reminds us that all physical things are impermanent, releasing grief and sorrow can open the door to self-renewal.
