Gemini New Moon

Thursday’s New Moon correspondence guide paints a picture of maturation towards one’s goals. March forth with confidence, logic and careful intention!

Tarot correspondences include The Lovers (Gemini) and The Magician (Mercury rules Gemini), The Tower (Mars rules decan 2), the anxiety-ridden 9 swords, and the logic-forward King of Swords. These cards tell a story of resilience, choice points and logical determination after a stressful change in circumstance.

Gemini 17’s Sabian Symbol is “The head of health dissolved into the head of mentality” which speaks to the strengthening of one’s rational mind in contrast to the more passionate/emotional mind. It relates to the maturing of our minds as we move from youth into adulthood. The challenges of “adulting” can easily become overwhelming, and it’s important when working with this degree to not slip into pessimism or despair. Progress requires we remain optimistic, determined and affirm our trust in the universe.

Speaking of Progress – on the I Ching side, this New Moon takes place in Line 6 of Hexagram 35. This hexagram holds the promise of forward momentum while the 6th line warns that going on the offensive should be done with care to keep people on your side, avoiding force or displays of harshness with others. This line changes Hexagram 35 to Hexagram 16 (Enthusiasm) where proper displays of enthusiasm (not ego-driven ones) can open new doors. Together, all divination symbols for this New Moon speak of diligent and rational movement forward, perhaps after a tough period of stagnation, anxiety or difficulty. With Saturn squaring this New Moon (more on this tomorrow), reality may be knocking in uncomfortable ways, so it’s not a time to “slack off” or take it easy – put in the work and you will be rewarded.
