Full Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

We are building up to a 9/17 Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse that reminds us that we each forge our own unique path. Whether following or leading, humbly trust where you’re being guided at this time.

The Tarot majors for this Full Moon include The Moon (Pisces), The Hanged Man and The Wheel of Fortune (Neptune/Jupiter co-rule Pisces), The Hermit (Virgo), The Magician (rules Virgo and its 3rd decan), and The Tower (Mars rules the 3rd decan of Pisces). All 4 elements are present in these 3rd decans with the Queen of Wands, Queen of Swords, and 10s of Cups and Pentacles painting a story of embodied wisdom and spirit moving us towards lasting stability and happiness. The tarot for this full moon reminds us that we have all the tools at our disposal to go within, find our inner light and handle uncertainty and unexpected events with grace, determination and humility.

The Sabian Symbol for this Moon is Pisces 26 (A new moon that divides its influences) – a symbol related to being free to make your own choices, perhaps going in a completely direction and/or parting ways with others. The Sun sits in Virgo 26 (A boy with a censer), a symbol emphasizing the importance of sacred service, humility, gaining experience and apprenticeship.

The Full Moon sits in Hexagram 36 (The Darkening), Line 4 while the Sun is in Hexagram 6 (Conflict), Line 4. These both caution and advise us to disengage from conflict and negativity. Focus on win-win situations for the long-term, and don’t hesitate to walk away from what doesn’t serve you at this time (reminds me of the 8 of cups, also a Pisces card – which in the RWS deck is the only card depicting an eclipse!).

Eclipses can bring unexpected twists and fallout that may play out for the next several months, and attempting to over-control situations is likely to backfire. It’s a good time to live and let live – just “do you”. While the moon undergoes this potent culmination in Pisces, practice surrender and trust in the unique path you’re forging!
