Tonight (2/22 at 1:14am CST), Venus and Mars begin a new 2-year synodic cycle as they join in Aquarius 7: A child born out of an eggshell. This marks the beginning of a new relationship between our values and ambitions.

The Sabian symbolizes the birthing of something unique and special. Rudhyar describes it as “The emergence of new mutations, according to the great rhythms of the cosmos…the appearance of a new type of human being who is not born from “Ancestors” and who therefore is free of the inertia of mankind’s past”.

Such a fitting Aquarian-themed Sabian for these two personal planets fresh off their recent conjunctions with Pluto who will be repatterning the collective over the next 20 years. The time for bold, unique and new ways of being are certainly emerging.

Tarot influences include Judgement (Pluto’s influence), The Star (Aquarius), The Fool/The World (Uranus/Saturn, co-rulers of Aquarius), The Empress (Venus) and The Tower (Mars).

Venus holds strength over Mars in this cycle as it starts in a Venus/Empress-ruled decan. The action-oriented, if not hasty Knight of Swords and the tricky 5 of Swords (the “Lord of Defeat”) serve as reminders to keep our ambitions in check, avoid self-sabotage and taking risks that put ambitions over values. The ragged clouds in both cards indicate a time of change, during which our values should be driving our ambitions, not the other way around.

The I Ching hexagram for this conjunction is 41: Decrease, Line 6. @bellwen describes this line as “the image of a good minister who acts selflessly, with nothing personal to gain from their endeavors…Find those without a mission, and give them your mission.” This line changes Hex 41 to Hex 19: Approach which she names “Spring is Coming” and describes as the “Arrival of a transcendent and hallowed blessing that will bring a rebirth and renewal”. This hexagram pair aligns well the theme of ensuring our values drive our ambitions.
