Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse

“Reinterpreting past experiences.” The Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse on 3/29, heavily influenced by Mars/Tower energy, offers cathartic breakthroughs as we grapple with issues of leadership, followers and the reinvention of world order as we know it.

This eclipse occurs amidst a very heavy pileup of planets on or near the World Axis / Aries Point. On the collective front, Neptune, a planet with a 165 year orbit, enters Aries the day after this eclipse for the first time since 1861-1975. And on the personal front, both Venus and Mercury are re-entering Pisces after their re-births in the early degrees of Aries just last week. We are radically re-evaluating our vision for the future. Significant chapters are coming to a close so that new, more empowered and authentic versions of ourselves can emerge – and these energies reverberate into the spring and summer.

Tarot correspondences include The Emperor (Aries), The Tower (Mars, Aries’ and its 3rd decan ruler), the Queen and 2 of Wands. A critical moment of crumbling has come, and yet we look ahead with hope, passion and empowered resolve to rebuild better.

Aries 10’s Sabian Symbol, “A man teaching new forms for old symbols”, is the culminating degree of the Sabian Expression of Drive. Burgess gives this degree the keynote “Reviewing old understandings.” Lynda Hill credits this degree with the energy of finding new solutions, even revolutionizing something. New dimensions of consciousness are breaking through old thought forms.

The Sun & Moon sit in Hexagram 17 (Following), Line 6. @bellwen says of this line: “You were confined, then you were released. The king makes sacrificial offerings and petitions the gods at Western Mountain” – a reference potentially to King Wen’s imprisonment by King Zhou of Shang which ultimately incited Wen’s followers to revolt and overthrow the Shang dynasty. This line changes Hex17 to Hex25 (Innocence), which advises a return to acceptance and warns against advancing or forcing your way at this time. It may also warn against unnecessary travel.
