Aquarius New Moon – 2/9/2024

my Tarot/Sabians/I Ching preview for today’s potent and powerful Aquarius New Moon. With the Sun and Moon squaring Uranus (Co-Ruler of Aquarius along with Saturn), I expect this New Moon to hold breakthroughs, revelations, and revolutionary energy. And with Neptunes move from Pisces 26 (A New Moon divides its influences) to Pisces 27 (A harvest moon) on the eve of this New Moon, it truly feels like a New Moon with Full Moon energy.

The Tarot coloring this New Moon includes the Star (Aquarius’ Major) as well as the bookends of the Fool’s Journey (The Fool and The World) associated with the 2 Co-Rulers of Aquarius (Saturn and Uranus) – hopeful beginnings and endings energy. And because Aquarius 21 starts the 3rd decan of Aquarius, the intuitive and mysterious High Priestess card is in play as the Moon rules these last 10 degrees. Decan 3 is also associated with the tricky and tactical 7 of Swords and the emotionally intelligent King of Cups. Aquarius 3 is his “shadow decan” – he also rules over the 1st/2nd degree of Pisces.

Aquarius 21 kicks off the 65th Sabian Expression to which Burgess gives the keyword “Poise”. It’s the Sabian Symbol for “A woman disappointed, disillusioned” – which has themes of resiliency and holding faith amidst disappointments.

On the I Ching side – the New Moon takes place in Line 2 of Hexagram 49 (Revolution/Social Change/Abolishing the Old) -Lake over Fire. It’s in Line 2 that all chances for negotiation/the easy way are exhausted and the revolution begins. Line 2 changes Hexagram 49 to Hexagram 43 (Breakthrough/Decisive Action) – Lake over Heaven. As @bellwen describes Line 2 in I Ching, The Oracle “The day of change has come. Call upon the troops – forward march.”
