New Moon - 1/29/2025

Aquarius New Moon / Mercury/Pluto Conjunction

“Reject the illusion of fame and fortune” – The first year of the Wood Snake since 1965 begins with the 1/29 New Moon.

Mercury joins Pluto in “An unexpected thunderstorm” the same day, a transit likely to bring to light some surprising hidden truths. The I Ching lines (60.6/61.6) activated by this conjunction both caution against performative, coercive actions. Move towards truth. Others will arrive at their own pace.

Tarot correspondences include The Star (Aquarius), The Fool, The World (Uranus & Saturn, Aquarius’ co-rulers), The Empress (Venus rules Decan 1), The Magician (Mercury), Judgement (Pluto) and the 5 and Knight of Swords. These cards juxtapose the lower-vibration Minor arcana energies of self-sabotage, deceit, and rushing into battle against the archetypal Major arcana energies of hope, renewal, manifestation, abundance, transformation, beginnings and significant completions.

Aquarius 10’s Sabian Symbol, “A popularity that proves ephemeral”, is the culminating degree of the Sabian Expression of “Idealisation”. James Burgess gives this degree the keynote “Rejecting the illusion of fame and fortune”, noting “We need to be in touch with our vulnerabilities and faults. It is important occasionally to look again at what we have become” It holds a powerful omen for those incapable of remaining humble when their popularity rises.

Hex 19, line 3 echoes the omen: “An influential person must take care to uphold proper principles, or misfortune occurs.” and changes to 11.3. @bellwen writes “No peace is without its discord…There will be hardships…That does not mean you should stop celebrating the joys of life…Prepare yourself for the battle, and…incur no sin and harbor no ill will toward others” Walker also adds: “When difficulties arise, accept this…Good fortune returns to those who remain calm and detached.”

Use this lunation cycle to scrutinize your own behaviors as well as what deserves your precious attention/reverence. What may have seemed too good to be true may prove to be just that.
