Capricorn Full Moon

Friday’s Full Moon in Capricorn is a celebration of our entrance into the summer season, and is encouraging us to release material attachments while we nurture and protect what we truly value.

The Tarot Majors at play include The World (Saturn rules Capricorn), The Devil (Capricorn), The Wheel of Fortune (Jupiter rules the 1st decan of Cap), The High Priestess (Cancer is ruled by the Moon), The Chariot (Cancer) and The Empress (Venus rules decan 1 of Cancer). The 2s and Queens of Cups/Pentacles indicate we’re forming new relationships and weighing some heavy choices as we build a more secure future, and we have the emotional and practical maturity to do so gracefully and confidently. We should be wary (The Devil – Capricorn) of over-attachment to the material as we make moves to change our fortunes for the better.

The Sabian Symbol for Capricorn 2 (Three stained-glass windows, one damaged by bombardment) underscores the Devil’s warning – it speaks of our relationship to beauty and how we protect and commemorate what we truly value in our lives. Cancer 2 (A man suspended over a vast level place) reminds us to maintain poise and focus when contemplating our futures – find time for stillness and reflection before reacting to changes around you.

The Full Moon sits in Hexagram 10 (Treading), Line 4 while the Sun sits in Hexagram 15 (Modesty), Line 4. Both lines relate to proper conduct and self-discipline. They advise moving ahead conscientiously with careful consideration of your words and actions.

Overall, this Capricorn Full Moon sees the culmination of the rational and diligent intentions planted during the Gemini New Moon. We may be celebrating an achievement and/or gearing up for new start/direction. However, this isn’t a time to rush (even with the Sun in the sign of the Chariot) – move with gentle steps into summer!
